Customers are generally tied to whatever decisions manufacturers make when it comes to smartphone design, which hasn’t changed much in years. Samsung now allows you to create your own flip smartphone.
However, during a virtual press event on Wednesday, Samsung intended to alter that with a concept that involves consumers in the design process.
The firm unveiled a made-to-order version of its Flip 3 smartphone, allowing customers to choose from a variety of design possibilities that may represent their personality or preference. It is possible to pick black or silver frame choices, several colors (blue, yellow, white, pink, or black) for its front and rear panels, or a stripes pattern. According to the firm, up to 49 different combinations are conceivable. It expands on its current Bespoke product range, which includes refrigerators.

During the event, the firm stated, “This is the first time we’ve ever given clients this much flexibility on their mobile device.”
Starting Wednesday, designs may be made via Samsung’s Bespoke Studio on the company’s website for $1,099.99 and more.
Samsung isn’t the first firm to try out a customized phone. Motorola’s Moto X in 2013 offered consumers a choice of 18 rear color options, seven trim options, and several material alternatives, such as plastic or wood.
Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 4 may also be modified via the Bespoke Studio. A few additional improvements were also made to the wristwatch to provide consumers greater flexibility over the appearance and experience. New watch faces, including weather and health-focused displays, a gesture control function, and improved fall detection are among them.
Samsung introduced its clamshell-like Galaxy Z Flip 3 handset ($999) in August, with a style that harkens back to the early 2000s flip phones. The Flip 3 is thinner, lighter, more robust, and water-resistant than Samsung’s previous foldable models, with improved multitasking options, support for the Note’s iconic S Pen, and a camera hidden behind the screen, which could spell the end of the dreaded notch.
Its most recent news conference takes place during a busy week for electronic product launches, with Apple and Google both releasing new devices ahead of the crucial holiday season. The products are being released as a result of continued worries about global component shortages and logistics problems. It’s unknown how quickly Samsung will be able to fulfill orders for its new Bespoke goods, but the fact that they’ll only be available in six locations may relieve some concerns about delivery.
